Cindy Galema

Training and Quality Assurance Manager, Public Safety Telecommunications

During her 13-year career, Cindy has worked her way through the ranks of the Provincial Emergency Communications Centre. Beginning in the role of emergency call taker and dispatcher and acting platoon supervisor, she advanced to Training and Quality Assurance Supervisor, then to manager of the new Training and Quality Assurance Unit. Cindy is a certified Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) instructor in two disciplines: Public Safety Telecommunicator and Fire Service Communications.

In her role as the Training and Quality Assurance Manager, Cindy oversees the functions of the members of the Training & Quality Assurance Unit. Cindy maintains all training records of the communications centre staff and manages their continued education. She is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating training plans for a multitude of programs for both new hires and remedial or continued training for staff members. Cindy is in turn responsible for the completion, development and implementation of the Quality Assurance programs for the communications center, which can also include case-specific reviews and implementing specialized focused training strategies based on outcomes.

Cindy has many passions outside of the public safety sector. Her summers are spent at the lake with her family or enjoying her flower gardens. Winters are spent baking, planning and decorating for holiday festivities. She is an avid collector and her “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” – Whoville Christmas village is a prized collection that is on display year round.
